Failing to factor in the update in review content can keep web pages from generating rich results in search engine results pages.

Google has updated its structural data requirements for product review content. The company requires the author name in the review content to be less than 100 characters to qualify it for Search results.

If the author name field exceeds 100 characters, Google will render the webpage ineligible for an author based review snippet. With product reviews primarily driving affiliate ecommerce activity, publishers must ensure they take not of Google’s structured data requirements update.

Google uses structured data to understand the different types of web pages specified. Though not all reviews qualify for rich results, the structured data requirements apply to content across 17 categories, including books, events and local businesses.
