The Pandemic continued to loom large as people attempted to balance working from home with a post-vaccine world.
An analysis of Google Search in 2021 shows people were eager to return to normalcy even when they were getting more comfortable working from home. They were constantly hunting for ways to normalise working from home.
Searchers were looking to redefine the space they called home, experiment with different forms of entertainment and strike human connection whenever possible. Google Searches for “wood sofa set design pictures” grew globally by 600% YoY. This number shows that audiences, through creative expressions, tried to build their homes as an extension of themselves. With vaccines available today, the search for the term “international travel” has grown by 300%.
Searches like “multiplayer games online” and “last-minute DIY gifts” also show that people were on the lookout for innovative ways to stay connected with one another through 2021. Post the string of lockdowns, people continue to opt for pandemic-time virtual travel solutions like augmented or virtual reality.
