Twitter’s 2022 Trends report highlights specific topics and trends after analysing billions of tweets from 2019 to 2021 that marketers can leverage. One of the trends the platform showcases is the “Great Restoration”, denoting the move among Twitter users towards self-care and rethinking climate change.
Terms such as “restoring” and “rebalancing” witnessed a 64% YoY increase and mentions of greenwashing increased 158% YoY. Similarly, tweets about fighting waste increased 109% YoY, and those about existentialism increased 20% YoY.
The report also found discussions about building and owning virtual worlds through cosplay, role-playing games and virtual marketplaces. Tweets about cryptocurrencies that gives fans access to membership perks for football clubs, content creators and musicians saw a 994% increase. Additionally, tweets about finance grew 78% YoY last year.
