Owing to their value, Google is searching for new ways to display short-form videos in search results.

As per a podcast episode hosted by Google Product Manager, Danielle Marshak, and others from the Search Relations team, Google is looking to showcase more short-form videos in search results. The company’s Search Relations team is also considering recording their own short-form videos.

Marshak defines a "short" video as less than five minutes in length and recorded in a vertical aspect ratio. She believes the format can convey a lot of information in a short time.

According to Gary Illyes, part of the Search Relations team, Google is also considering short-form videos for educational purposes. Short videos will be crawled and indexed just like any other content type. Self-hosted short videos like Google web stories are already being crawled and indexed.
