The company is looking to make live audio more accessible to listeners.
Spotify’s Greenroom, launched last year to compete with Clubhouse, is being shut down. The Greenroom Creator Fund applicants were informed of the same through email on Monday.
As reported by The Verge, Spotify shares, “We plan to shift toward other initiatives for live creators.” However, Spotify’s investment in live audio continues as earlier this month, the title ‘Greenroom’ was changed to ‘Spotify Live’.
It is currently unclear whether, since launch, any payouts were made under the Greenroom Creator Fund. In addition to the standalone app, Spotify has also rolled the livestreaming feature into the Spotify app.
