Gas has displayed "significant growth potential", being one of the most downloaded apps on the App Store.

The VoIP and instant messaging social platform acquired 'Gas', an up-and-coming social media app focused on a teenage demographic, specifically high-school students. Discord hopes its new acquisition will expand its reach amongst Gas's customers.

Discord has been exploring new areas to expand into after the NFT hype died down. The social chat app is looking to become a larger entity within the social media landscape by entering new avenues apart from gaming.

For Discord, the challenge will be to effectively scale and integrate Gas with its audio and visual tools. Gas also has the potential to become a platform that more prominent brands can use to engage younger audiences.
