Many Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving on November 26, but not everyone plans to pitch in to make the holiday meal.
Data from YouGov finds that women (48%) are more likely than men (31%) to report that they do “all” or “most” of the cooking for the Thanksgiving meal. One-quarter (25%) of men and 8% of women say that they do none of the cooking for their household’s holiday feast.
The gap widens even further between married couples. Among married women who plan to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, 60% say they typically do all or most of the Thanksgiving cooking. Among married men who intend to celebrate, just 30% say the same. Married men (22%) are almost four times as likely as married women (6%) to say they don’t do any of the cooking at their Thanksgiving celebration.
