81% of Black Americans have a positive opinion of the network, compared to 61% of the general public
In recent years, television network ABC has diversified its primetime line-up and featured more African American-led shows like Black-ish, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder. Perhaps it’s these efforts that has made the broadcaster the highest rated television network with Black Americans, according to YouGov Ratings.
More than four-fifths (81%) of Black Americans have a positive opinion of the broadcaster, while only 61% of the general public feels the same way. Other highly rated networks with Black Americans are Netflix (80%), The Weather Channel (78%), TNT (76%), and National Geographic Channel (75%).
For the general public, Discovery Channel tops the list of highest rated networks, with 77% of Americans have a positive opinion of the cable network. It’s followed by Netflix (77%), National Geographic Channel (75%), History (73%), and The Weather Channel (70%).
While Netflix comes in second with the general public and Black Americans, it is far and away the most popular network with those in the 18 to 34 range – 85% of these millennials have a positive opinion of the streaming service.
