Kathy Frankovic has worked with YouGov since 2008, when she first hired the company to help CBS News make estimates of Electoral College results. She has been a consultant to the company since 2010, with responsibility for the Economist/YouGov Poll. She spent most of her career as Director of Surveys and Producer at CBS News, retiring after more than 30 years there in 2009.
Kathy is a leading expert in public opinion polling both in the U.S. and internationally. She received both the AAPOR Achievement Award for Exceptionally Distinguished Achievement and the Warren J. Mitofsky Award for Excellence in Public Opinion Research. Besides consulting on the Economist/YouGov Poll, she has been an election and polling consultant for CBS News, Harvard, and many other research organizations.
She speaks and writes internationally about public opinion research, journalism, and elections as an invited speaker in Italy, Jordan, Hong Kong, Manila, Mexico, Lisbon, Chile, the Republic of Georgia, India, and many other places. She has served as President of both AAPOR and WAPOR. She is now a member of the ESOMAR Professional Standards Committee.
She received an A.B. from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in political science from Rutgers University. Before joining CBS News, she taught political science at the University of Vermont, and has also held visiting professorships at Cornell and at the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania.
