Barack Obama’s approval rating remains low – just 42% in the latest Economist/YouGov poll approve of the way he is handling his job as President; 53% disapprove. The President has been struggling with his ratings all this year.
His response to the latest terrorism scare – packages on cargo planes – has done little – as of yet – to boost his ratings. In this week’s poll, just 42% approve of his handling of terrorism; 48% disapprove.
And many Americans say critical issues have gotten worse, not better, since the President took office. More than half see government spending, the economy in their area, job security and the U.S. financial system as worse now than two years ago. Only when it comes to the war in Iraq – from which the Administration has recently withdrawn all combat troops – do Americans see progress. 41% say things are better there now, but 23% still say things are worse.
Do you think things are better off or worse than they were two years ago when it comes to:
|Better||No Change||Worse||Not sure|
The economy in your area
The U.S. financial system
The war in Iraq
