The President And The Economy

President Obama’s approval ratings continue to be hurt by a struggling economy. In this week’s Economist/YouGov Poll (Week of 1/14/2012), it remains the top issue for Americans, and they give the President just a 35% approval rating on the economy.

Even the improving unemployment rate helps little: only one in five say the economy is improving, while 36% say it is continuing to get worse. Two out of three say the country is off on the wrong track.

The President’s approval rating of 43% is better than his lows of mid-August, but he is still in negative territory — 50% disapprove.
