Opposition to the Stop Online Piracy Act from many important internet sites became public last week when many of them shut down in protest for one day. And Americans agree with those internet sites. There is little support for SOPA in this week’s Economist/YouGov Poll (Week of 1/21/2012). Just 16% of respondents support it; 54% oppose it. And this opposition is across the board — in all age groups, income groups, and within both parties.

But many Americans aren’t sure. Nearly one-third admit that they have no opinion.
