One way to reduce the divide between rich and poor is to change the tax code. Warren Buffett, for one, has said that those who make most of their income from investments should not pay a lower tax rate than middle-class Americans, whose income comes mostly from salaries. In the latest Economist/YouGov Poll (Week of 1/28/2012), 61% agree with Buffett; 23% do not.

Democrats and independents favor the “Buffett Rule.” Republicans, who oppose tax increases, are more divided. But even they narrowly agree with Buffett, 43% to 41%.
