In this week’s Economist/YouGov Poll (Week of 2/4/2012), Americans were asked whether they regarded various religious groups as Christian or not. The jury is out when it comes to Mormons. Overall, just 35% say they are.
There is much more consensus when it comes to Catholics, Baptists, Episcopalians, and Evangelicals. Between 53% (Episcopalians) and 66% (Baptists) describe these other denominations as Christian. Just 37% say Seventh Day Adventists are.
Republican primary voters are a little more convinced that Mormons are Christians. 46% say they are.
