As the countdown to the presidential election reaches 43 days and early voting begins, three in five Americans say they have at least a somewhat clear idea of President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s policies.
According to the latest Economist/YouGov Poll, a quarter (25%) of Americans say they are completely clear on Biden’s polices, while 33 percent say they are somewhat clear. Among those who support Biden in the trial heat against Trump, 86 percent say they are at least somewhat clear of what he would seek to accomplish in the White House.
The Economist/YouGov data finds 31 percent of Americans are completely clear on Donald Trump’s policies, while a quarter (25%) say they are somewhat clear on his policies. Among those who support Trump in the trial heat against Biden, 93 percent say they are clear on what policies he would enact.

Methodology: The Economist survey was conducted by YouGov using a nationally representative sample of 1,500 U.S. adult citizens interviewed online between September 13 - 15, 2020. This sample was weighted according to gender, age, race, and education based on the American Community Survey, conducted by the US Bureau of the Census, as well as 2016 Presidential vote, registration status, geographic region, and news interest. Respondents were selected from YouGov’s opt-in panel to be representative of all US citizens. The margin of error is approximately 3.4% for the overall sample.
