Democrat Cal Cunningham has a six-point lead in US Senate race
The latest CBS News/YouGov Battleground Tracker shows a close race between Joe Biden with Donald Trump among likely voters in North Carolina with the Democrat holding a 51% to 47% lead.
The President has a 65% to 34% advantage among White voters without a college degree while Joe Biden has a 51% vs. 45% edge among White voters with college degrees. The Democrat is attracting the overwhelming majority of the state’s Black voters, leading by 87% to 12%. Seniors are split 50% for Biden and 48% for Trump.
Joe Biden’s voters in North Carolina are split on why they are voting for him, with 44% backing him in order to oppose Donald Trump, 40% supporting him because they like him and 16% because he is the Democratic nominee. Meanwhile, 67% of the President’s supporters are voting for him because they like him compared to 18% who are backing him in order to oppose Joe Biden and 15% who are supporting him because he is the Republican nominee.
Half (51%) of voters in North Carolina who have not already voted say they plan to do so in person before Election Day, while 45% say they intend to vote in person on November 3. The remaining 4% plan to vote by mail or absentee ballot
In North Carolina’s US Senate race, Democratic challenger Cal Cunningham holds a six-point advantage over Republican incumbent Thom Tillis, leading 49% to 43%.
