(Week of 9/15/2012) Enthusiasm about voting for president has gone up this week among both Obama and Romney supporters, though the bigger jump has occurred among Obama supporters. As a result, Obama supporters have nearly made up the gap in enthusiasm between the two sides that has been a hallmark of the presidential race thus far.

Positive support for both the candidates has risen recently, but remains much stronger among Obama supporters. 83% of those voting to re-elect the President say their vote is for him rather than a vote against Romney, roughly a 10-point increase over pre-convention levels. In contrast, half of Romney supporters aren’t voting for the GOP candidate, but rather casting a ballot against the President.

Additionally, 81% of the President’s voters expect he will win in November. Only 56% of Romney voters think their candidate will.
