It took about a day to gather an audience large enough to satisfy the challenge, and Wendy’s said it’ll make good on returning the nuggets to the menu

The popular Chicago rapper sent out a tweet on May 4, 2019 that included his desire to see Wendy’s bring back their Spicy Chicken Nuggets. Wendy’s social media account seized on the opportunity and promised to bring back the spicy fare if its fans would get their tweet reply past 2 million likes.

It took about a day to accrue an audience big enough to satisfy the challenge, and Wendy’s said it’ll make good on returning the nuggets to the menu sometime soon.

Wendy’s social media team is adept at catching lightning in a bottle, especially with its nuggets. The most retweeted tweet in history is about Wendy’s nuggets, after all.

To be sure, chicken nugget tweets are effective on social media, and according to YouGov’s BrandIndex data, Wendy’s enjoyed a small spike in its positive Word of Mouth score following the tweet exchange with Chance.

But if Wendy’s were in the market for a traditional campaign that featured a musical spokesperson, Chance the Rapper might not be their first choice for representation.

That’s because, according to YouGov Plan and Track data, Chance the Rapper’s appeal among Wendy’s customers (27% have a positive opinion of the musical artist) is about the same as his appeal among all Americans (a 26% positive rating).

If Wendy’s really wanted to find a popular musician that appealed more to their current customers than the average American, it has a range of choices from across musical genres.

The biggest crossover appeal for Wendy’s fans and music lovers is Ashanti. About 38% of Wendy’s customers have a positive view of the “Foolish” singer, compared with a 27% positive view for average Americans.

Perhaps the best get would be Kelly Clarkson, who enjoys a whopping 55% positive view from the average American, but enjoys a 64% positive view among Wendy’s customers.

The 10 best artists among Wendy’s customers, based on their appeal outpacing that of the average American include in descending order: Ashanti, Kellie Pickler, Kelly Clarkson, Fall Out Boy, Steven Tyler, Ciara, Flo Rida, T-Pain, Rascal Flatts and Phillip Phillips.
