How big is Amazon Prime Day?
One quarter (25%) of the country says they’re planning to purchase something from the online retailer over the next two days, according to a YouGov poll of 27,422 Americans.
That number rises for younger people. More than a third (38%) of 25-34 year olds say they will make a purchase on the sales holiday that Amazon invented in 2015.
Amazon Prime Day is a shopping holiday specifically designed for members of Amazon’s loyalty program, Prime. Prime give users access to free shipping options as well as entertainment. This year the company launched a live concert series to attract new customers to its wares.
The breakdown of who plans to shop for Prime deals is interesting.
Males are slightly more likely than females to have plans to make a purchase (27 percent compared with 23 percent.)
Perhaps that’s because Amazon offers heavy discounts on tech and gadgets during its shopping extravaganza.
According to YouGov Plan and Track data, men were much more likely than women to be in the market for electronics in the next year. About 75 percent of men said they were likely to purchase a piece of electronics over the next year compared with about 65 percent of women, according to a survey of more than 35,000 individuals.
