Disney+ may be a newcomer to the streaming fight, but it’s already scoring top marks for satisfaction, compared to other major streaming services.
According to a YouGov survey in partnership with Variety Intelligence Platform, more than three-quarters (76%) gave the service a score of 4 or 5 out of 5 when asked to rate satisfaction with the service. Disney+ tops other streaming services including Netflix, which scored 74 percent, Amazon Prime (67%), Hulu (64%), YouTube Premium (57%) and Apple TV+ (48%).
When looking at product design, streaming-service incumbent Netflix reigns supreme, with the vast majority (85%) of users giving the service a score of four or five when asked to rate the ease of use of each platform. Apple TV+ again scores lowest, with just over half (53%) giving it top marks.
Unlike the other services on the list, Apple TV+ and its content lives within the Apple TV app, mixing Apple originals with other on-demand titles, which perhaps could be the reason for the lower score. In contrast, Disney+has a more traditional user interface similar to that of Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.
YouGov asked respondents to rate each platform based on content discoverability. Disney+ once again scored top marks with 67 percent granting it a score of four or five when we asked to rate between 0-5 how long it typically takes to find content on each service.
Apple debuted its service with around 10 original programs, including its marquee title The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell. Along with a library of Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic titles, Disney+ swung open the vault of back catalogue animated offerings.
It’s still early days in the streaming fight and more competition is expected to enter the market later this year, including NBC’s Peacock service and HBO Max.
According to YouGov data, just about one in five (19%) Americans are cord-cutters, meaning they used to have cable or satellite TV but now only subscribe to streaming services. About the same amount (22%) say they have both paid TV and streaming subscriptions.

Total sample size was 1,182 adults. Fieldwork was undertaken between December 17 - 18, 2019. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all US adults (aged 18+).
