53% agree that Jared Lee Loughner, the alleged Tucson gunman, was probably mentally ill at the time of the shootings. But Americans divide evenly on whether or not laws should be changed to make it easier for government to commit the mentally ill against their wishes, if they don't pose an imminent danger to themselves or to others.
