Americans pass on Google Glass

Most people would not consider buying Google's glasses and would even feel uncomfortable just interacting with someone wearing them.

Google is currently developing a wearable computer, Google Glass, which would project maps, texts and other information directly in front of your eyes. Google Glass would also be capable of recording or photographing everything that the wearer sees.

YouGov's most recent research shows that 54% of Americans are uncomfortable with the idea of interacting with someone wearing Google Glass. On the other hand, 28% say that they would be comfortable with it.

Broken down by gender, men (35%) are somewhat more likely to be comfortable interacting with someone wearing Google Glass than women (21%).

Asked whether they would consider buying Google Glass themselves, only 24% of Americans said that they would and 59% said they would not.

The Google Glass project has attracted much attention since it was announced last year, but has recently been the subject of some backlash. Businesses have already announced their intention to stop customers wearing Google Glass on their premises, while West Virginia is considering passing a law to prohibit use of Google Glass while driving.
