Roughly one in five US adults (21%) believe a major economic recession will arrive within a year.

Democrats (31%) continue to be more worried than Republicans (8%) or Independents (25%) that a recession is a year or less away.

Americans’ and registered voters’ fears that a recession is a year or less away have dropped since October.

Americans show diminishing confidence when it comes to their preparedness to weather a recession, with four in 10 (40%) feeling very or somewhat prepared (down from 43% in August and 44% in September).

Many Americans continue to believe the country is nearing a major economic recession, according to new YouGov data. One in four US adults (25%) believe a major recession will occur within the next year. That’s down slightly from 29 percent last month, but remains up vs. 18 percent in July.

Nearly three in 10 US adults (29%) now believe the next major recession will hit within the next year, up from 18 percent in July. Among registered voters, 33 percent believe a recession is coming within the next year.
