On Issues More People Care About, President Obama Scores Below Average

Overall, 43% approve and 50% disapprove of the job President Obama is doing in an Economist/YouGov poll conducted [link to archives: January 14-17, 2012].

Obama scores better than that on four issues—education, terrorism, the War in Afghanistan and the War in Iraq—that fewer Americans care much about. On average, 40% rate each issue as very important.

Obama scores worse than his overall job rating on four issues—the economy, healthcare, Social Security and the budget deficit—on which an average of 69% rate each issue as very important.
