Far more Americans continue to disapprove than approve of Donald Trump's job performance. Compared to Trump's first term, he has a higher net approval among Republicans but a lower net approval among Democrats and Independents. Trump's approval among all three groups has fallen since the start of his term.
What you need to know about Donald Trump's job approval as of the November 7 - 10, 2025 Economist / YouGov Poll:
- 39% of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of Donald Trump's job performance, while 56% disapprove, for a net job approval of -17
- The 39% who approve of Trump is tied for the lowest share to do so in Economist / YouGov polls since the start of Trump's second term
- In all nine polls starting with the September 12 - 15, 2025 survey, between 39% and 40% of Americans have approved of Trump
- That's a slight decrease from the summer, when between 40% and 42% of Americans approved of Trump in 13 consecutive polls
- Trump's net job approval of -17 is down from -10 in early June and +6 at the start of his term
- His net approval is similar to his net approval at this point in his first term (-16), and below Joe Biden's net approval at this point in his term (-6)
- Compared to the same stage of Trump's first term, Republicans are more likely now to approve of Trump's job handling (net approval of +73 vs. +64 in Trump's first term)
- But Democrats, who overwhelmingly disapproved of Trump during his first term, are even more overwhelmingly disapproving now (-90 vs. -74 then)
- Net approval of Trump's job handling among Independents is also lower than at this point in his first term (-35 vs. -19 then)
