Net approval of Trump's handling of the Epstein investigation is negative but rising

Approval of Donald Trump's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation is higher than it was two months ago, though more continue to disapprove than approve of his approach. Half of Americans believe Trump is trying to cover up Epstein's crimes and the vast majority want the government to release all of its files from the investigation of Epstein.

What you need to know about how Americans see the Epstein investigation, as of the November 21 - 24, 2025 Economist / YouGov Poll:

  • Net approval of Trump's handling of the Epstein investigations remains negative (-26), but has increased significantly since September when it had fallen to a low of -42
    • Republican net approval of Trump's handling of the Epstein investigations has reached a new high of +42, meaning the share who approve is 42 percentage points higher than the share who disapprove. Net approval among Democrats is -75, little changed from early September
  • 71% of Americans — including 84% of Democrats and 63% of Republicans — think the government has significant information about crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein that should be made public
  • The vast majority (81%) of Americans think that the U.S. government should release all of its files from the investigation of Epstein; 5% think it should not and 19% are not sure
    • Majorities of Democrats (92%), Independents (78%), and Republicans (73%) support the government releasing all of its files on Epstein
    • The share of Republicans who support releasing all of the Epstein files has increased 6 points since last week
  • Half (50%) of Americans think Trump is trying to cover up Epstein's crimes; 29% say he is not
