A majority of Americans disapprove of how Donald Trump is handling his overall job as president, and even more disapprove of how Trump is handling the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. These negative views of Trump's handling of his overall job and the Epstein investigation have changed little in recent weeks.
What you need to know about Americans' views on Donald Trump, as of the February 13 - 16, 2026 Economist / YouGov Poll:
- 39% of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of how Trump is handling his job as president, while 56% disapprove — a net job approval of -16
- That's in line with Trump's net approval in recent Economist / YouGov polls
Net approval of Trump's handling of the Epstein investigations is -33 — meaning the share of Americans who strongly or somewhat disapprove (57%) minus the share who approve (24%) — is 33 percentage points, and has changed little since last week
- 53% of Americans say Trump is trying to cover up Epstein's crimes, while 29% say Trump isn't
- 91% of Democrats, 58% of Independents, and 13% of Republicans say Trump is trying to cover up Epstein's crimes
- Half (50%) of Americans think that Trump was involved in crimes allegedly committed by Epstein; 30% think he was not
- 86% of Democrats, 53% of Independents, and 13% of Republicans believe Trump was involved in Epstein's crimes
