Tis the season for organizing your closet, scrubbing the windows, and cleaning the floors. For many households, this month is spring cleaning time.
Data from YouGov finds that about three-quarters (77%) of Americans say they plan to do some spring cleaning this year. Three in ten Americans (31%) say they will be doing their spring cleaning in March, while 28% will wait until April. About one in six people (17%) say they don’t plan to do any spring cleaning.
With many tidying up their physical spaces, 30% of Americans also plan to do a “digital” spring cleaning. Cybersecurity experts recommend updating logins and passwords, cleaning up files, and reviewing privacy settings on devices as part of a digital spring cleaning.
What’s on the to-do list for spring cleaning?
Topping the list of spring cleaning activities is organizing closets, which 51% of Americans say they will do. Slightly fewer have plans to wash windows (45%), clean the floors/carpets (43%), and clean the ceiling fans (42%). About two in five plan to clear out the refrigerator or clean windowsills (39%).
