It is not acceptable for a teacher to be a part-time porn star, but opinion is split on whether those who were in previously porn should be allowed to teach
A high school teacher in South Florida was recently fired after it surfaced that the 26 year-old aspiring model had posed for nude photos online, soon after a California teacher lost her appeal over being fired for her porn star past.
A new YouGov survey reveals that, for the most part, Americans would agree with the first decision. 67% of Americans say that someone shouldn’t be allowed to work as a teacher if they work as a pornographic actor or actress in their spare time. 23% think that part-time porn actors should be allowed to teach.
However, as for whether someone should be allowed to be a teacher if they had once worked as a pornographic actor, opinion is more divided. 43% say that former porn actors should be allowed to work as teachers, while 46% say they should not.
Opinion split along both party affiliation and age. 55% of Democrats thought a former porn actor should be allowed to be a teacher, while 61% of Republicans thought they should not.
Age, however, was the biggest dividing line with those 18-29 years-old the most likely and those above 65 years-old the least likely to think former porn actors should be allowed to be teachers.
