His son comes in second
With the checkered flags of the 2018 Indianapolis 500 just on the horizon, new data from YouGov Ratings shows that legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt is the most popular race car driver in America, with 48% of Americans having a positive opinion of him.
He’s followed closely by his son Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who 47% of Americans have a positive opinion from. The next five are Danica Patrick (44%), Richard Petty (40%), and Jeff Gordon (36%).
Of the top 10, only two are racing in this year’s Indy500 – Patrick and Marco Andretti.
