How many people actually like the color of the house or apartment building they call home? A new YouGov tries to answer just that.

When asked whether they like the color of their house or apartment building, 63% of respondents said they did, 15% said they did not and 22% had no opinion.

Answers to this question varied most prominently across different age groups. Respondents above 55 or older were the most likely to say the liked the color of their house, with 80% saying so. Respectively 54% and 58% of the other age groups—those between 18 and 35 and those between 35 and 54 years of age—also said they liked the color of their home.

When asked if they would have their home repainted a different color if there were no other concerns, 36% of respondents said they would “certainly” or “most likely” do so. Age, again, was an important factor, with those above 55, the least likely to say they’d like to change the color of their house or apartment building.

The survey also asked respondents about their other major investment—their car. 69% of respondents said they liked the color of their car, while only 7% said they did not and 13% didn’t have an opinion. As might be expected after the house questions, answers ranged with age. 85% of those above 55 said they liked the color of their car, as opposed to 65% of those between 35 and 54, and 60% of those 18-35.

When we asked if they would have their car repainted a different color if there were no other concerns, 22% of respondents said they “certainly” or “most likely” do so.

Looking across ages, younger respondents were more likely to want to have their cars repainted. 14% of respondents 55 and above said they would “certainly” or “most likely” have their car repainted, while 34% of those 18-35 answered in the same manner.
