Most Americans want fewer federal immigration agents in Minneapolis, and slightly more Americans support than oppose abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

What you need to know about Americans' views on immigration and ICE, as of the February 6 - 9, 2026 Economist / YouGov Poll:

  • Few Americans (18%) want the federal government to send more immigration agents to Minneapolis. A majority want the government to either reduce the number of agents it has in Minneapolis (14%) or remove all its agents (40%)
  • 47% of Americans support abolishing ICE and 42% oppose it, little changed from last week
    • 78% of Democrats, 47% of Independents, and 18% of Republicans are in favor of abolishing ICE
