Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck will both be reportedly leaving The View.
Behar, who has been with the show since its start 16 years ago, has decided to leave it after her contract expires in 5 months. The former comedian is planning to potentially host another interview show and is contemplating a return to stand-up.
Hasselbeck's departure appears to be less amicable. Long the conservative voice on the show, she is reportedly being fired because her viewpoint does not mesh well with viewers. According to a US Magazine report, her contract will not be renewed because "The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing (...)"
UPDATE: The rumor widely circulated that Hasselbeck is leaving the view was shot down by Barbara Walters today. "We have no plans for Elisabeth to leave this show," said Walters, who addressed the claim that Hasselbeck's political views were causing tension by saying that "Elisabeth helps gives the show perspective and balance (...)"
