A majority of LGBTQ likely Democratic primary voters (90%) think that President Donald Trump should be impeached and removed from office, according to new data from Out Magazine and YouGov Blue.
In a survey conducted from November 11-18, a majority of LGBTQ Americans who are likely to vote in a Democratic primary or caucus (88%) said they “strongly support” or “somewhat support” the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump by the US House of Representatives. When asked whether or not Trump should be impeached and removed from office, 90 percent responded “yes,” while 5 percent said no.
The desire for impeachment aligns these LGBTQ Americans’ disapproval of the way Trump is handling his job as President: 94 percent say they “somewhat disapprove” or “strongly disapprove” of his performance. Just 5 percent approve. When asked about the direction of the country, nearly nine in 10 (89%) LGBTQ Americans who are likely to vote in a Democratic primary or caucus say things are “off on the wrong track,” as opposed to “generally headed in the right direction” (6%).
While these Americans do not approve of Trump, there are certain national politicians they do view favorably. A majority of LGBTQ likely Democratic primary voters have a “very favorable” or “somewhat favorable” opinion of New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (70%) and House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi (70%). In contrast, a majority of these LGBTQ Americans (89%) view Vice President Mike Pence “somewhat unfavorably” or “very unfavorably.”

This survey was conducted as part of the YouGov Blue Core, a subscription tracker to measure America’s policy views. This specific poll was conducted alongside Out Magazine to measure how LGBTQ Americans view presidential politics and the 2020 election. Methodology: Total unweighted sample size was 816 LGBTQ adults who are likely Democratic Primary voters. In order to get a reportable LGBTQ+ sample, YouGov Blue asked respondents “Do you consider yourself to be LGBTQ" and weighed the survey based on the Williams Institute LGBT population statistics. To determine “likely voters,” YouGov asked people if they were like to vote in the 2020 primary or caucus in their state, and then asked whether they would vote in the Democratic or Republican contest. The figures have been weighted and are representative of LGBTQ likely Democratic primary voters (ages 18+). Interviews were conducted online between November 11 - 18, 2019.
