Young Americans are much less likely than their parents and grandparents to take bed cleanliness seriously

Research from YouGov shows that anyone considering staying the night at a young adult's house should beware. While nearly half of people aged 45 or over wash their sheets every week, only 17% of under-30s do the same. 58% of under-30s wash their sheets regularly, defined as at least every two weeks for the purposes of this survey, but 37% take a more lax attitude to bed cleanliness. 27% of under-30s wait a month or a month and a half to clean their sheets, while 10% wait 7 weeks - or more.

The age gap is by far the largest, but there is also a noticeable gender divide. Men, in generally, are sloppier in their attitudes toward clean sheets than women. 44% of women clean their bed sheets at least once a week, compared to 32% of men. 6% of both men and women, however, form the filthy core group who clean their sheets at minimum every seven weeks.
